Christine Bolstad is the Co-ordinator of the Inner West Therapy Centre. She has 20 years experience as a therapist in private, public and community practice.

Christine uses an empathic approach to help people deal with any emotional difficulties they may be struggling with and develop a sense of self-control and safety in their life and relationships. She focuses on developing a warm and safe therapeutic relationship to assist people to gain greater self-awareness, self-confidence and understanding in order to develop lasting change in their lives.

Where appropriate, Christine uses creative processes to enhance verbal therapy. She combines a variety of experiential methods to present her own post-modern approach to action, art and body work in therapy.

Christine emphasises working safely and respectfully with people who have experienced various kinds of abuse and/or neglect. Her approach incorporates an awareness of social and cultural issues, including how power impacts and informs ideas and practices of therapy. Christine assists people wishing to develop different relationships with their own body, with other people and with the environment.

Christine provides individual, family and group therapy, supervision, consultations and training. Prior to establishing a private practice she worked for many years as a child and family therapist within Community Health and as a vocational counsellor.

Drawing on her extensive background in action methods and working with the body, Christine developed the Body of Knowledge course in 1996. This is an intensive training course for therapists and counsellors wishing to explore respectful and collaborative ways of working with the body in therapy. Christine also conducts a training course in experiential therapy with couples and families.
